Welcome To the Early Years Foundation stage

This is Rainbow, Red and Green classes for children who are aged 3-5 years.

Welcome to our Early Years setting, the magical space where your child takes their first confident steps into education. Our curriculum is built on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework, focusing on playful exploration and development across seven key areas. We believe every moment is a chance to learn!

Our dedicated Early Years staff are specialists in play-based learning, committed to observing and guiding each child’s unique development journey.

We utilise our specially designed learning spaces, both indoors and outdoors, enabling continuous provision where children can choose activities that interest and challenge them.

We believe in working closely with families, sharing observations, and celebrating milestones together, ensuring a smooth and happy transition into school life.

Thursday 15th January 2026 was the last day you could apply to have your child start in our Reception class in September 2026.

The opening date for applications for September 2027 admissions is 2nd November 2026 with the closing date 15th January 2027.

Parents who have children currently in Nursery (who will be turning 4 before 31st August next year) need to apply for a Reception place. This should be done online via the Nottinghamshire County Council admissions portal where you will also find information to help you through the registration process online.

EYFS Times

Our Nursery runs two sessions per day:

8:45am – 11:45am Morning session
12:25pm – 3:25pm Afternoon session

For Reception classes, the school day consists of:

9:00am School begins
3:30pm Home time

Each school day for Reception classes is 6.5 hours long giving a total of 32.5 hours a week.

Free Nursery Places

30 HOUR WEEK
If you are eligible and we have availability, you will be entitled to a 3-hour session during the morning (8:45-11:45am) and a 3-hour session during the afternoon (12:25-3:25pm). The lunchtime period is between 11:45-12:25pm and is an extra to your entitlement. As a result, we make a small charge of £3.50 per day. You can either purchase a hot meal via Compass or send your child in with a packed lunch from home.
The morning and afternoon sessions are led by a qualified teacher.

15 HOUR WEEK
All parents are entitled to a 3-hour session each day. This can be during the morning (8:45-11:45am) or during the afternoon (12:25-3:25pm). If we have availability, you may also have 15 hours over 2 full days and 1 morning or afternoon session – if this is the option you would prefer, the charges detailed above would also apply as the lunchtime period is an extra to your entitlement.
The morning and afternoon sessions are led by a qualified teacher.

Helping Your Child

If you make the time every day to do some of the following things with your child it will make a real difference to your child’s confidence as a young learner.

Rainbow

Rainbow class children are encouraged to share books at home, supporting their communication, language and personal and social development. Regular trips to the park and the local environment provoke conversation and interest.

Red & Green

Red and Green class children are sent home a reading book which they are expected to read at least 3 times per week. They also receive a phonics pack and a bingo to support their early reading. Each week we will send home suggested tasks based on other areas of the curriculum which all form part of our homework expectations.
